11/9/13 Your 2014 Miss West Sound's Outstanding Teen is....

Wow! What a weekend I have had. I am so beyond blessed to be have chosen as the 2014 Miss West Sound's Outstanding Teen. For me, this process did not begin in June when I sent in my application, the journey for the Miss West Sound's Outstanding Teen crown began May of 2012 when I sent in my application for MWSOT 2013. I was awarded 2nd runner up and most ticket sales. It was an honor knowing I walked away with something when other girls did not but I knew God had other plans for me.

The adventure of the 2014 pageant weekend began Friday evening with interview with my five fabulous judges. I felt as if I had a very mature but fun interview and I was feeling really good about how it had gone.

Saturday morning I woke up as ready and as prepared as I could possibly be. I was so excited to see how the night would fall and see all my friends and family coming to support me!

We arrived at the theater and I was more nervous than I had ever been. I had never felt nerves in every part of my body until pageant day. I just wanted MWSOT so bad and I knew I was just steps away. With a group picture and a prepageant prayer it was show time!

After an opening number where I lost a shoe, a fitness I felt confident about, a talent that I performed the best I ever had, a second opening number I had umbrella issues with, a formal wear I almost didn't have a zipped dress for and an on stage question I was debating it was finally time for crowning!

The nerves all came rushing back as they called each award. I was blessed to be called Ticket Sales Winner, the Directors Award, the Kitsap Alumni Association Award and the award that shocked me the most the Highest Talent Score out of all the teens. Talent has always been a struggle and I choreographed my own talent routine so that was a huge surprise. The time had finally came to call the 2nd and 1st runner ups.

The words I had been waiting for finally were said,
"Your new Miss West Sound's Outstanding Teen is.....Teen Contestant #1 Deidra Morris!"

Then it was the Miss girls turn, anticipating who my Miss would be and still trying to take in that I had won Megan McCormick's name was read!

I am still in shock that I am really apart of the sisterhood I have only dreamed of since I was a little girl, I keep asking myself as well as others if this is all real. I am so thankful for this opportunity and wouldn't change it for the world! Last year I knew God had other plans for me yet I did not know what, this is what. He knew I needed a year and I would be that much more grateful for it. I did not only work six months as I would have last year, I worked a year and a half for this title<3

I apologize for all the pictures on this post!
